No neighborhood in Orlando has a higher concentration of Japanese restaurants than the stretch of East Colonial Drive and North Mills Avenue. Kabooki and Michelin Bib Gourmand noodle house Zaru are the standouts, and EDOBOY — a standing sushi bar tucked behind TORI TORI on North Thornton — serves five evenings a week, Monday and Thursday through Sunday. This is a neighborhood where new discovery awaits with each return visit.

Audubon Park is a quiet, walkable neighborhood that punches well above its size. Michelin-starred Kadence is the reason serious sushi people make the trip — a small chef's counter on Winter Park Road. DOMU, a Michelin Bib Gourmand just around the corner, anchors the casual side with ramen and Japanese comfort food. Next door in Baldwin Park, Sorekara is the only restaurant in Orlando with two Michelin stars.

The tourist corridor isn't where you come for sushi discovery, but a few spots are worth knowing. Near SeaWorld, Oza Izakaya pairs Japanese small plates with cocktails for the convention crowd. And Kura's first Orlando location, on Regency Village Drive just off I-Drive, is the easy pick for a fun, affordable conveyor belt meal.

Sushi love extends well beyond the urban core. Kura's conveyor belt sushi has a second location in Waterford Lakes near UCF. Lake Nona boasts two notable spots as the neighborhood builds out its dining scene. SoDo covers the south Orange Avenue corridor. Out west, Norigami in Winter Garden is a Michelin Bib Gourmand hand roll bar worth the drive. And the genuine outliers — Mugendai in Oviedo and Takami in Apopka — confirm that the appetite for Japanese food reaches every corner of the metro.
